Topic: Fireface 800 Upgraded Convertors?

Hi

i have read on a number of forums that the older FF800 had lower quality convertors and they were upgarded at some stage.

Is this correct and if so from what serial number were the changes made as i want to check and see what version i have?

Hope someone can help.

Re: Fireface 800 Upgraded Convertors?

The only change was from AK 4395 to 4396 at some stage, which I believe is not a major upgrade - just a new generation of this DAC.

Thanks for the quick response.

Are you saying that the later version does actually have an improved sound quality?

Re: Fireface 800 Upgraded Convertors?

That the life ! sometime, there is new dac with better noise/signal ratio, and constructors prefer to use them !

Some people gets older version, and new one gets the newer...

I'm doing an SSL 4000 compressor by myself, and I have to say that I'm enjoyed by using VCA of new generation because it just sounds better !

You can wait years and yars to get the best converter. By this way you will never buy something if you want to wait for the best and next generation of chipset !

That Life, is't it ?
