Topic: ADAT and SPdif at the same time???
Probably a silly question, but having read the Users Guide a couple of times, it seems to hint that the impossible, might just be possible.
I have a Fireface 400 with an Alesis S4 Sound module connected to the RME's ADAT optical input and an EMU Proteus 2000, connected to the SPdif input.
Now the S4 only kicks out 48k and this cannot be changed. Rubbish, I know but it's old.
The Proteus obviously kicks out 44.1 through it's SPdif output.
Not surprisingly, if in the Fireface Settings, I set my preferred sync ref to ADAT, the S4 sounds great, but the Proteus starts clicking and gets all bity.
The same result occurs if I swap to SPdif. The Proteus sounds great and the S4 sounds rubbish.
This is simple clocking and I know why it is happening.
And yes, I've seen page 45 of the User Guide and it says "Digital system can only have one master".
Now I am using Logic V8.02 and although I can switch from 44.1 to 48k, I can't record a track at 44.1k and another at 48k, without one of them sounding silly, (can I)???
Again, we know why this is, Clocking.
My question is this. Is there a clever feature within the Fireface, (that the User Guide, just can't seem to spit out), which can deal with my annoying 48k Alesis S4 ADAT output?
Is there a clever trick that will perhaps down-sample the 48k to 44.1k.
I know it is a silly question, but like I said, the User Guide kind of implies that the Fireface can do really clever stuff like this, but does not tell me how.
Any solutions, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
