Topic: Just updated to new drivers,,,getting awful ring mod sounds

After a long while on the previous version of drivers, I don't know what came over me but I decided to upgrade.

I have a fireface 400 - upgraded to 1.7 firmware & V2.992

In my DW - Sonar V8, there's an option to 'share drivers with other apps' (under option - Audio) - I tick that box when I want to use another application that needs sound.

The problem is now when I go back into Sonar (ie return from the other app that needed sound), I get an awful discordant ring mod sound on my audio - the only way around this is a reboot. (to give you an idea of the trype of sound/distortion I'm getting it's like the cubase 24hrs bug, where you leave cunabase running only to get up the next morning to hear your audio distorted asif being pushed through a low bit ring modulator.

It never happened on the previous firmware/driver - is this a known issue?

Re: Just updated to new drivers,,,getting awful ring mod sounds

Ok, looking through a few threads, it seems others are reporting issues with drivers.

Since what I've got resulting from upgrading is completely unworkable for me, I therefore decided to rollback firmware & driver. I found archived drivers here...

http://www.rme-audio.de/en_downloads_driver_archive.php

I chose 1.52 firmware - it rolled rollback went without issue....

BUT the actual XP sw driver, I can't get out of V2.9992

I've tried XP's 'update driver' - that doesn't work.

I've tried XP's 'rollback driver'- that doesn't work.

I then tried deleting the driver - after doing this a PC reboot, after the reboot XP asks for the location of the Fireface 400 driver - I point it at the decompressed fireface 400 archived driver folder (V2.999) - it goes through the driver install, but when I check the version under control panel - system - hardware, the driver is still V2.9992

So ....how do I get rid of V2.9992 of my PC?!!!

"rollback" ??? forget it!
Go to device manager, sound, video, game, rme, right click, update driver. Point it to the folder containing the prefered driver. It should install fine.
