simply want to know if i can use the SPDIF i/o to connect a TC-HELICON voiceworks. I want to use as insert for mic input.

of course you can!
although the term insert is debatable... anyways it works like this: you route the mic signal to the spdif out and then record the signal that comes back trough the spdif in of the FF...
rather routing than what I would call inserting, but it does the job perfectly well!

Use totalmix to do the tight routing :
If mic is on Channel 1 input :
Route Channel 1 -> Spdif out
Route Spdif in -> Daw input
Just check about latency.
In anyway you can always record voice to the daw and insert after your TC-Electronics effect.
