Topic: Updating A/D/A converters
My RME FF400 is 3 1/2 years old now. Can my converters be up-dated to be better than the original ones?

If you dismantle the unit, check out which converter chips are used, find better pincompatiple ones and desolder them and put the new ones in then you are on the right way...:-)
Joke aside, the converters build into the FF400 are not bad for the money. If you want better ones then buy a better interface...
RME of course...:-)

And the chip itself is only one component of the converter circuit that determines its sound. All of the analog stuff in front or behind the chip is also crucial.
I don't know if Black Lion offers any RME mods - but they do lots of this kind of work - where all kinds of lovely adjectives are used to describe the "improvement in sound"
