Topic: Best Solution to expand I/O on Fireface 400

I would like to expand my Line I/O on my Fireface 400, and control it via Totalmix.

I could either;

A) Purchase another Fireface 400 and connect it via Firewire.

B) Purchase a Multiface II and connect it to the 400 via ADAT.

This second box HAS to be DC/External powered.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,
The Multiface2 will not work well for this sense it is not a true stand alone device.
Either a 2nd FF400 or some other non-RME converters. But I can't think of any 8 channels AD/DA that can operate off DC like the FF400 and Multiface can.

Re: Best Solution to expand I/O on Fireface 400

im all most in the same situation, i need to expand my line I\O on my Multiface I, what will be the best option :

1. buying second Multiface and connect it with ADAT + external power (i got one when i was using it with the powerbook).
2. buying Fireface 400 and connect it via firewire.
3. buying second Multiface with PCIe card and connect it with world clock cable.

option 1 will be the cheapest and 3 the most expensive, but now in thinking about the Fireface 400 as well, coz i got good deal for it. all i need is to expand my line I\O, the extra option that i will get with these cards less important,
or to get non RME card with 8 I\O and connect it with ADAT.

for all the option including the non RME card,do i need to connect them with world clock cable, or just no.3 ?

Tnx for the help.
