Topic: FF800 Octamic D connection questions

I just had my FF800 serviced and am having some trouble getting it set up again.

I think this is very simple and I am just missing something.

All my gear is computer, FF800 and Octamic D.

I want to connect via optical the FF800 and the Octamic D.   When I do it I wind up with the host light off and the ADAT 1 light flashing.

I thought that what I wanted to see was the Host light green and the ADAT 1 light green (and NOT flashing)

I am using an optical cable that goes:

Octamic D MAIN ->  FF800 ADAT 1 IN

Again, Host light OFF and ADAT 1 light flashing green.

I do not remember any special settings I ever made on the FF800, but perhaps is was just too long ago and I have forgot.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Jim

Re: FF800 Octamic D connection questions

One other thing.

In the Fireface settings box I currently have Fref Sync Ref set to word clock, clock mode = master, and the SyncCheck is reporting that ADAT 1 in = Lock.

Re: FF800 Octamic D connection questions

Host light off is good...

ADAT LED flashing means incoming signal is not in sync. Either set the FF to Autosync (then you'll have to change sample rates with the Octamic's dip switches) or pull a Word Clock connection from the FF to the Octa and set the latter to external sync (explained in the manual).
