Topic: Win7 64Bit? Install?

Hmm, looks like Win7 64bit is harder to handle. D'led the Package, but how to get it installed. I am more from the mac, there you just click install, but here.. wink

Well, the RME doesn't show up somewhere and I don't find real installers, just sys files, what to do now?
Where to put those SYS and DLL Files?

Same Problem with Emagic AMT8. So, thanks for help. I assume no more chance on 64bit to use the amt8?

thx: for all: it will apear under "Other Devices" not under Audio.
But now all audio stops, so it looks like "freezing" and out 10 sends some glitches..
itunes (I tried it first to check audio) just freezes. but everything "audio" also freezes,..
I see a signal at out 9/10 but even if nothing is playing. so, hmm..

As said: RME Fireface 800 via FW800 Port, latest Update, runs normally on MP under OS X (I reported in the other thread), same machine but Win 7, 64 Bit , another Partition. so it is a nice one wink
8 core. Installed it, but does only clicks when the first sound should be played. some1 suggested to switch of Bluetooth and maybe WLAN, but sounds not so logical to me. but I am more used to Macs.

still not working, checked updates and that bugfix from MS SP3, but failed to download it (password was not accepted), they are strange.
but really go no idea. looks RME and Windows 7 isn't a good idea at all.

Firmware version of your FF 800? Which driver version did you install? Please use this one:

ok, but it won't have a bad effect on running it under 10.6.4 right? I read about the new FF UB which has sort of 2 special modes for PCs and Macs, so just want to be sure - since there is no such update on the mac update page. I still plan to stay on OS X 10.6 and check Win7 for some things that are not available to macs, just want to be sure. thx for answers, I am at the latest Mac-flash update (which is much below 3.X)

so, hope it's all ok and I don't have to downgrade to run OS X ,ok?
(silly question, but I need to ask) wink

The new firmware is downward compatible, but the new Win drivers don't work with the old firmware.

Moogulator, I can offer you to come by, bring a Macbook Pro that's running 64-bit Windows 7 and check things with you. It's less than an hours to drive.

Only problem is that 2 days ago was the official date for my newborn to arrive, so I prefer to stay in town for the time being and might soon be "busy" for a few days.

moogulator - I'm sure the lovely people here can help you get fixed up in no time.  Firewire can be finniky, and RME requires some fairly strict adherence to FW protocol from what I gather.  It could be as simple as replacing your current IEEE1394b driver.

The newborn doesn't seem to be in a hurry at the moment, hopefully he waits until the temperatures cool down a bit. ed: wink

I suggest to try using the legacy Firewire driver (update driver via Windows' Device-Manager) or installing the following hotfix for the new FW driver: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981613
