Topic: MADIFACE and Soundcraft vi4

I'm thinking of interfacing with Mac Bk Pro and Logic 9.
Do i insert MADI channel from Soundcraft Vi4's pre-amp or at the Insert Point?
What is the standard practice when working with digital consoles?

Re: MADIFACE and Soundcraft vi4

If you want to get an record of all inputs, the best is to take the signal just after the preamp and pre-eq and pre-fader.

Be carreful, on some mixers (digico D1 from the mixer), if you use an hipass filter, this one is pre-eq...

If you just want to plat from logic to the mixer, don't boring with insert point, just patch it as input (without preamps because these one will unavailable by the fact of digital input).

There are patchable Direct Outs for every Input Channel with separate attenuation if
you need it. Please Note! There are two Highpass Filters on this Desk! The One under the Gains
is on your recording too. The other one depeds on your DO Routing.

Re: MADIFACE and Soundcraft vi4

I've taken the DO after the pre-amp before EQ to Logic.  Works fine.
I patched the Returns back to the same channel inputs for virtual sound checks without the musicians.
One of the frustrating moments is external slow drive errors despite using firewire WD Passport with latest 17" MBP.
