So this is probably an easy question but I'll ask it anyway (forgive me oh learned audio gurus)

I am purchasing a macbook pro 15" i7 2.66 ghz and have a fireface 400 already. I will be uising the macbook as my workhorse (don't own a desktop tower), but taking it and the fireface 400 away from the studio 3-4 times a week to a production course. My question is this.. ..can I install the fireface 400 and run that when at the course and travelling (for portability)

and have a fireface 800 set up at home (permanently) with alll my hardware pre plugged in etc, so all I need to do is plug the macbook into my apple display and connect the firewire port to the 800?

Or will the 400 and 800 mixing interfaces and drivers crap out due to their similarities? I would appreciate the advice as I am keen to get an 800 as a desktop base for potential upgrades of hardware in the future (effects units etc)
