Topic: Is this waveform ok ?

Hi,

this is a waveform recorded with a guitar directly in INS Input (sorry for the height of the screenshot).

http://lomasite.free.fr/Images/FF_UC.jpg

As you can see, the bottom of the waveform is truncated. The fact is when I record in Sonar and see the waveform preview during recording, the waveform is symetric and becomes as the screenshot once I stop the recording.

If there's no consequences on sound it doesn't matter so I would like to be sure.

Thanks.

Re: Is this waveform ok ?

Check for DC within the recording. If no DC then this is perfectly normal.

Thanks Matthias but I'm not sure to understand what I have to check HeadScratch ?

Re: Is this waveform ok ?

Hi and thanks. I checked but it doesn't come from levels in mixer. I don't understand how levels between left and right channel can do this on waveform HeadScratch.

I read the thread on soundonsound too and it seems normal but I would like to understand what Matthias talking about in his answer.
