Not sure where I should post it here ...

I am looking for a good windows / i7 laptop / interface. My intention is to do some local recording - mainly drums and therefore it would be good to have more than 8 inputs - up to 16 preferred.
I guess will mostly use my own existing preamps and therefore I need line inputs rather than more preamps.

I was looking around in the firewire world but got the impression that it can be difficult to find the laptop with a FW interfacs which is working well with audio.

Than I was looking into USB but I did not find interfaces with more than 8 line inputs.

Finally I find the RME MADIface interesting since you can also combine it with equipment from other manufacturers as well - for example MADIface with SSL.  But maybe this is too much for me ...

Any good recomendations ???
