Topic: HDSPe AIO Expansion - Servo-balanced I/O
I'm thinking of buying an AIO with an input expansion board, but am put off by the fact that they don't have true balanced connections. The way I understand it is that the AIO Card itself does have balanced I/O but the expansion not. Correct?
AFAIK servo-balanced means that there is no noise-cancellation properties like in true balanced connections, and in my rack with lots and lots of power cables I fear that my signal quality will weaken considerably. Has anyone got any experience with the expansion boards sound quality? Maybe someone who also has LOTS of power cables and other cables together with the cables that should go into the board?
I'm probably going to order from Thomann. Does anyone know if there are still AIO cards around with the hiss problem with certain ATI video cards? I have the same card as someone who said he had problems and I'd hate to buy a card that's defective.
Thanks,
Matt Faulkner
PS: I find it confusing that on the AIO Card product page it says that the expansion board has balanced I/O but on the expansion board product page it is revealed that it is only servo-balanced.
