Topic: How to connect ADI-2 to M2Tech Hiface EVO

Hi all,

I want to hear high resolution audio files from itunes to my adi-2
Therefore I found a Audio Interface for my iMac / the M2Tech Hiface EVO.
Which Output should i prefer to connect to the adi-2
Following outputs are available on the Hiface EVO Audio Interface:
1x S/PDIF RCA
1x S/PDIF BNC
1x S/PDIF Toslink
1x AES/EBU
1x I2S
1x ST OUT
Here a link to the Hiface EVO for more technical details:

Thanks for your help

P.S. I am very satisfied with my RME ADI-2 smile

Does your imac have the combo analogue/digital headphone out? If so just get the cable for 3.5mm optical to adat optical into your ADI-2. Done!

Re: How to connect ADI-2 to M2Tech Hiface EVO

Thank you for your answer isaac.
But I think the optical way would be the badest solution smile
I heared that coaxial is preferable...
The Problem is the Hiface EVA have a aes/ebu (XLR) output
and the ADI-2 have a coaxial spdif (aes compatible) input.
Is it possible to connect these to devices in this way?
I'm not a studio guy but I think the optical way would be the badest solution...
Nevertheless many thanks for your suggestion isaac

How is one better than the other? Are they different ones and zeroes? It's digital!

If you read the manual for the ADI-2 you will find a diagram for making an rca to xlr cable.

The only reason I can think of to use another device such as your Hiface is for clocking purposes. I don't know how good the clock in the mac would be.

Re: How to connect ADI-2 to M2Tech Hiface EVO

I think koax would be better because there is no need to translate from electrical to optical and back from optical to electrical.
i want to use the hiface for high resolution audio files.
