Topic: Flashing Multiface HDSP PCI card in Windows - Blue Screen!!

Hi

When I try Flash my HDSP PCI card I get a blue screen and this error :

The hdsp_wdm_fut detects the card and starts flashing then half way thru blue-screens

***Hardware Malfunction
call your hardware vendor for support
NMI:Parity check/memory parity error
***The system has halted***

Same error when I try flash in either a Hp Xw4600 workstation with Xp SP3 or Dell Optiplex 960 with Win 7 Pro

The card after the 6th flash attempt is now dead (the attempts were over a period of about 4 months!)
What am I or the card doing wrong?

Must the Multiface II be unplugged when flashing the HDSP PCI card?

The HDSP PCI card was on firmware 54 - I was trying to upgrade it to 55
And I think its the newer revision PCI card , there was apparently some older version

Took the card out its a Rev 1.9 HDSP PCI card Ser: 22702748
Put the card back in , into a different slot and now its working again
To scared to try flash it again - What can I do?
Can I leave it at Firmware 54?
I would prefer to have the latest firmware - it makes it more stable etc

Was on hdsp_wdm_3083 drivers when flashing
Have now updated to the hdsp_wdm_3085 drivers

1.9 can't fail, so no reason to worry. You could try with another computer.

Already tried 2 different PC's with different OS and both give the identical blue screen error
In my experience that means the card is to blame - ie faulty?

Anything special I can try - safemode , etc
Or any software that is known to conflict with the flash updating process?

The card may be faulty - but not because of the fut. When exactly does the BSOD occur?

Thanks for the quick responses Daniel - I can see why RME is so highly regarded , the support is excellent
I'm glad I spent the extra to get RME!
(Having had issues with other brands and the total lack of timeous & professional of customer support)

Just tried another flash update with hdsp_wdm_3085 drivers in a Dell Optiplex 960 Win 7 Pro

It sees the Firmware ver as 54  , I select PCI then update
It says erasing sector 1 , erasing sector 2 , erasing sector 3 and then the same blue screen error as with all previous attempts :

Card Faulty?

It is still under warranty but that would be last option for me - I'm all the way over in South Africa
Card was supplied by Tuerk Music - The authorized agents here
Would a warranty return mean it would have to be shipped back to Germany for repair?

Could indeed be a faulty card... Please contact Tuerk. The card may need to go back to Germany indeed.
