There's an article in the Support section of the website under Tech Info entitled Firewire Audio Made by RME - Technical Background which I found particularly informative.

I was wondering if there are any plans to bring it up to date seeing as how some of the proposed chipsets discussed are now on the market. I'd be interested in a technical comparison between the competitors.

I fully acknowledge that writing a comprehensive article requires a lot of time and effort so I'm not expecting anyone to jump to the task. I'm just saying it would be a really interesting read if it was to be written.
