I read some post online that the newer ones are somewhat superior to ones with older serial #,

We hear there was a batch where RME cheaped out on the Firewire sockets, fitting ones that didn't firmly locate on the circuit board. And there was the batch that can break if you install the latest firmware. Does anyone know of other issues?
