Topic: FF800 - Win7 - Crackling while connected to the internet

Hi,

my FF800 is working perfectly fine when I'm not connected to the local network (texas instruments chip on PCI 3-port firewire card for FF, onboard GigaLan port Atheros), however,
I can't listen to stuff on youtube or such for the life of me, it stutters, pops, clicks...

It's not something I do with it constantly (I have another soundcard for that purpose) but I guess it should work better than it does even with the lan port active...

Config:

Asus p5k motherboard
4 gb of ram
Intel Q9600 (I think...)
Windows 7 Home Premium
latest firmware and drivers

Cheers,

k

Re: FF800 - Win7 - Crackling while connected to the internet

It's not the FF800 which is "not working" when the LAN is active, it's likely to be the Gigabit Ethernet NIC eating valuable system resources... Try increasing latency. If that doesn't help, try a cheap USB LAN adapter (110 mBit), which is plenty for internet etc.

Ok, I'll do that. It's weird though, that the onboard ethernet port eats that much power, it's probably flaky Atheros driver and their nonexistent support and updates.

Eh...
