RME User Forum → FireWire & USB series → Accessing Fireface control panel in Cubase 32bit hangs Cubase
This has been going on for a while. In Cubase 32bit, when you access the Control Panel for the Fireface 800, Cubase hangs. If you do the same in Cubase 64bit, everything's fine.
Whose problem is this, Steinbergs or RME?
I have the same problem with Nuendo 5 32bit.
Any solution?
For the time being, the solution is to open the settings from the task bar...
Which version of Cubase is this?

Hi Daniel, I'm currently on 5.5, I believe I first noticed it when 5.0 was released.
The new 3.030 driver unfortunately doesn't remedy this.
same problem here-windows 7 64bit cubase 5.5.1 32bit and abelton 8.2
cubase 64bit Control Panel opens fine.
happens since cubase 5.0(32bit)
No change regarding this with driver 3.031.

Yes, I've seen post 3 and knew about that workaround even before reading post 3. But it's still a workaround, not a solution.
Edit: Post 3 also says 'For the time being' - how long is that time?
There is no particular disadvantage of opening the settings from the task bar, except maybe a bit of extra mouse movement to reach the icon... Everything else works the same.

Well, it used to work and it works in 64bit DAW:s, so I'd say it's a bit more of a disadvantage than a few more mouse movements. Those are bad enough from an ergonomic point of view.
True - but I am uncertain whether it can be fixed with changes to the settings application. Have you asked Steinbrg about this?

Yes, I've asked Steinberg. They say it's an RME problem and that they've been in contact with you about this.
The same thing happens with Sonar 32bit in 64bit Windows... so this problem is not particular to Steinberg.
The same with latest cubase 5.5.2 and Abelton 8.2 32bit in windows 64bit...(so not only Steinberg)
Another with the same issue in Sonar x64.
Sonar also momentarily hangs when opening projects of differing sample rates. This was NOT the case with the previous driver.
Hope this gets fixed soon :-)
