Hello.
Just installed latest Mac OSX Intel drivers and firmware from RME website.
Plugged RME Fireface 400. It connects ok. But when I open Ableton or iTunes and try to play any audio through Fireface, host led start blinking. And no audio played.
Using MacBook Pro MB470LL/A. Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.
What can it be ???!
Sounds like the infamous Agere/LSI Firewire chipset problem.

Or buy a Firewire hub/repeater and plug it in between. The "Lindy" repeater cable proved to be working reliably.
A MOTU Ultralite also works as an in between repeater, even when it's turned off. Hehe. 
It's not an option for live performances and rehearsals.
Is this repeater do the job ?
Looks similar to the Lindy one and should do the job (unless internally it uses other components/chipset than the Lindy one).

I'm asking because 5m cable repeater is not a mobile solution. 7m of cable total.
Nope, those adapters don't have any FW chipset inside. You can try a FW hub though.

Just recieved and it worked fine. With no external power supply.
I'm going to test during next rehearsal. We use 4 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs with 1 midi input. And running Ableton Live 8.
Hope it will be fine.
Unfortunately, using Firewire repeater causes periodic dropouts during playback in Ableton Live. And makes it unusable in live situations.
