Topic: Has anyone got this model of Macbook pro MB133B/A 2.4GHz

Hi All,

Does anyone know if this model has the Ti or Agere Firewire chipset?
Ive got a FF800, which i love... I found a mint model MB133B/A, fresh install of snow leopard, but cant get my hands on it to test for the chipset. I cant afford a new model, with the rev.7 chipset which is reported to be ok with fw800
This model has a separate fw400 and fw800 port.

Any info greatly received.
Thanks.
Jay

FW400 and FW800? If it has the silver keyboard it's fine.

How does it perform with general audio tasks?

My plan is to use the FF800, with use with Ableton live, dj`ing,  and basic track building

What Audio card are you running, what sort of latency can get down to?

Thanks for the input.

The guy selling the machine did finally get this info to me.

here you go: FIREWIRE (OHCI) TI ID 8025 built-in now active GUID 002241fffe537b72

Does this look right...?

Yes, that is the Texas Instruments chipset, and it will work very well with the RME Firewire products.

perfect thanks, .

Re: Has anyone got this model of Macbook pro MB133B/A 2.4GHz

What do you guys reckon on buying a mint condition  MBP A1260...which is nearly 2 years old, no warranty, ?450-500.?
It has the TI chipset in, as you all confirmed for me, i think one of the last models to do so, before AGERE.

As i believe the new MBP 15" has the `rev 7 agere `firewire in but your talking ?1500 mark...

Some reviews say they run hot? so i dont know what the general life expectancy is on these...i guess its all relative to use, but are we talking 2-3 years?
just wondering if its a good idea, but that is my budget and it will be used for Ableton to dj, so i dont really need anything more powerful.. in time i could always fit a SSD 80gb drive and it would really fly...

Any thoughts ...thanks..
