Topic: HDSPe PCIe card , no video or BIOS post when plugged in

I recently had a HDSP PCI card die on me. I had it for 8 years. I've just purchased a PCIe version as a replacement and I cannot get my PC to boot and I get no video signal when this card is plugged in.

I've tried 2 different PCIe slots and I get the same symptoms. I thought that maybe my Radeon 5800 card might be conflicting somehow on the PCIe bus, but I've put in an older Geforce card and I get the same issue. As soon as I pull this HDSPe card out, everything boots just fine.

My hardware is the following

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Gigabyte P35C-DS3R rev 1.1,   Intel P35 chipset
Radeon HD 5800

The MB has one x16 PCIe graphics slot,  and 3 short x1 PCIe slots. Only two of the x1 slots are available to use as the graphics card covers the 3rd one.

I've ensured in the BIOS that I've selected that the x16 PCIe slot be checked first for the video source.

Any suggestions? Any problems with this chipset and the HDSPe PCIe cards? Or is it possible I have a defective HDSPe card. It is an open box card, but it was guaranteed tested by Synthax and comes w/ a 1yr warranty.

What type of card is this exactly? What is the serial number?
Have you tried all available slots?

The card is an RME HDSPe PCI card, Rev 1.1 :

I've tried both of the 1x PCIe slots available on the motherboard, both result in no video and failure to boot.

Well, looks like the card I just bought falls under the series of the ones that have been recalled :

But according to Synthax, any card in that series that they'd have would have had the necessary change already, but they've offered to replace it , yay me smile
