Topic: Proper Monitor setup and Turntable set up?

Just got an RME Fireface 400. Is it typical to stereo link L1 and hook the monitor cables up to output 1 and 2 or is there a better way for monitors?

Secondly, I want to hook my record player up so it gets audio through to my monitors. IT has a preamp and the singal is amplified, but when i put it through a female RCA to stereo 1/4 and plug it into the 7/8 input i get no signal. When i put it into a line input on the back i do indeed get signal. Am i doing something wrong in terms of setting 7 and 8 up to receive input?

Thanks for your help. Been trying to figure this out and so now I thought I would try here.

Re: Proper Monitor setup and Turntable set up?

1) Yes, this is typical.

2) The front jack labeled 7/8 is a headphone output, not an input. Try a pair of RCA to TS 1/4" adapters into 2 rear panel inputs.

Re: Proper Monitor setup and Turntable set up?

Ahh thanks Jeff. For some reason i thought you could toggle between 7/8 being an output and it being an input. I may have read that on the FF800 and confused my device with that one.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
