Topic: AES32+Aurora Lynx16: Short white noise bursts! issue

Hello,

I have an audio issue which might be created by the AES-32 in our studio.
What happens is that during recording (96kHz/24bit) short noise bursts randomly occur in the audio.
The bursts are hardly noticeable during speech or drums, but in quiet recordings they are heard clearly.
I saw it in Wavelab, by coincidence, when i was looking at the spectrum of a longer recording.

Setup:

Computer: HP XW8600 Workstation (Revision HP0A98h), Chipset Intel 5400, Intel Xeon X5450, Nvidia QuadroFX 1700
Interface: RME PCIe AES-32 with extensionboard (driver3.0.7.4, firmware rev 7)
Converter: Aurora Lynx 16 connected via AES and synced by RME via WC
Software: Nuendo 4 / Wavelab 6 / Audacity

I have tried with another computer (Macpro Octocore), converter, software, even without analog input, and still the noise occurred.
After changing the interface to a Lynx AES16e the noise didn't occur again, so the RME seems to cause it...
Then I decided to upgrade firmware from revision 2 to 7. After the upgrade the noise occurs only 10% of the times as before.

What could be causing this issue? I never noticed this before, and as it turns out it is in a lot of recordings.
I tried to reach Synthax in Maastricht (NL) but they haven't called back. I'm pretty desperate, as you can understand.

Greetings,

Arnoud
