Topic: HDSP(e) WDM drivers 3.083 open issues (FIXED)

Matthias,

thanks for 3.083!

But there are still two opened issues for me with the HDSP(e) drivers on Windows XP SP3 running a HDSP9632 PCI card.

1. Windows Sound volume slider doesn't remain at maximum:

-> installed 3.083 driver
-> set Windows Sound voume slider to maximum
-> start playback in Media Player Classic Homecinema (analog playback over DirectSound: HDSP9632 SPDIF)

=> Windows Sound volume slider still at maximum

-> restart Windows XP

=> Windows Sound volume slider at notch 3!?

Why? Why can't you just leave that slider at maximum? I know it doesn't affect playback volume but why not leaving it for a visual reason on maximum (to show us users that we have "1:1" playback)?

Never saw this with other cards.

FIXED (3.27)

2. Trayicons still not restored after explorer.exe crash! Other applciation's trayicons get restored automatically when explorer.exe gets restarted after an explorer.exe crash ...

3. DDS "Coarse" and "Fine" faders acting strange (not remaining at "0" point):

-> See this screen capture: rme-dds.avi (5.15 MB, XviD)

FIXED (3.27)

Experienced the windows sound volume slider bug as well and feel the same way as Dandruff: it bothers me (even i know it doesn?t affect the sound volume at all)

Maybe you guys can fix it with the next update :-)

Re: HDSP(e) WDM drivers 3.083 open issues (FIXED)

Problem number 3 (weird acting DDS faders) added in initial post. Someone can reproduce this?

No reply from RME?

Matthias?

Re: HDSP(e) WDM drivers 3.083 open issues (FIXED)

No time to "fix" these things?

Re: HDSP(e) WDM drivers 3.083 open issues (FIXED)

I don't think they care.

We could add:

4. Direct sound multi channel playback broken in media players in W7x64 (except in Windows Media Player)

5. Wrong/inconsistent channel mapping for playback of 6/8 channel sources when using ASIO, WASAPI or waveout

about which they don't care either.

It's somehow sad, they make the best hardware but are incapable of solving even the most fundamental software problems over periods of years.

Re: HDSP(e) WDM drivers 3.083 open issues (FIXED)

The things I'm complaining about are just minor issues. Nothing that stops me from using my HDSP card.
