Topic: itunes playback with FF400

i've noticed there's an issue with play back in itunes on my 2010 Mac Pro. the stereo image is very mono and a bit odd. there's a distinct difference between playing the same file in quicktime and in itunes. quicktime sounds good, itunes not so good. is this an Apple issue or an RME issue. it's a bit of a pain not being able to play my entire library without it sounding rubbish. has anyone else experienced this? I'm using the latest drivers, latest version of itunes and the latest version of snow leopard.

The solution and in depth information is on pages 3-5.

The Fix

Before opening iTunes:

Open System Preferences > Sound
Change the sound output from your external interface to Line out
Open iTunes and play some music
While it's playing, return to Sound Preferences and change the Line Out back to your external interface
Playback is now as it should be

Note: This fix is temporary. If you close iTunes or shutdown the computer, you will need to re-do the process above.
