Topic: Motherboard Sound

In the past it has always been recommended to disable the the motherboard onboard sound, but windows media player etc under Win 7 grabs the FF800 inputs/outputs when the onboard is disabled. Is it still necessary with the massive processing power we have now to disable these?

Re: Motherboard Sound

I never disabled onboard soundacrd, but have bad experince when running both of them at the same time.

Re: Motherboard Sound

Media Player shouldn't grab the FF outputs unless you RUN Media Player.  And, when you do want to simply play a CD etc. surely you don't want to have to hook up an additional pair of speakers to the motherboard audio outputs?

I wonder if you're asking about system sounds rather than Media Player?  It's certainly a good idea to switch off all System Sounds (except maybe the startup sound - it's a useful system check) on a music computer.

Re: Motherboard Sound

It is not difficult to set media player to use desired audio device. Also not difficult to set default playback and recording device...
