Topic: Problem With Babyface

Hello,

I have a problem with my Babyface bought today.

I connected the sound card at my Mac and I installed the drivers, I tried to play my bass but there is no sound.

I have already changed the device in the setting and also in my sequencer (Garage Band & Reaper), but I can't record

What happened?

in the usb port

Nothing
the sound card is on, I try to play but there is no sound in the headphones and does not register in any sequencer
also the total mix does not signal any signal level

Re: Problem With Babyface

have you turned on the" instrument" option in the AN/2 CHANNEL in  the top row of TotalMix(hardware inputs) accessed by the spanner .
Then check "Assign",Main Out to AN 1/2 and phones to PH 3/4
Activate ''Cue'' in PH 3/4 in bottom row Control Room(your monitors)
and voila

then I saved this as a Mix (select other than 1 which is default) by pressing store.
I hope this is a) useful
                   b) correct
good luck

Re: Problem With Babyface

is correct talk e listen in the hardware inputs? HeadScratch

because there isn't the sample rate in the input status?

Re: Problem With Babyface

Open Settings and set both to 'None'. Listen and Talkback are described in the manual.

Did you attach something to SPDIF or ADAT input? If not then no input status.

why the levels of talk and listen are active?
if I click O-names talk and listen become an 1 an 2
is correct

Re: Problem With Babyface

You ´ve configured the mixer the wrong way. I don´t know why you want to create a talkback/listenback setup (see manual) for the recording of your bass. Open the mixer settings (Options menu or press F3) and set Talkback input and Listenback input to "none".

it should be corrected
some wrong settings on my Mac?

Re: Problem With Babyface

The mixer is not involved in recording. Please be a bit more specific than just "can't record".

How do it involve?

if I try to record a track with reaper or a garage band, the track signal remains flat, as if it were not attached to any instrument

Re: Problem With Babyface

Do you see the input signal in the mixer? It should at least show up there.

Re: Problem With Babyface

I don't see any signal
that's the problem!

Re: Problem With Babyface

If there is no signal in the inputs you can not record anything useful. Where do you connect your bass with the Babyface - is there a signal? Please connect another device (CD player, synthesizer) to the inputs and try until a signal gets visible in the inputs.

Re: Problem With Babyface

I have the same problem. I just bought the babyface to use it to record my guitar with Logic Pro 9.1.3 (on Mac OSX 10.6.6).
I installed the latest driver (v.1.49) and updated firmware (v.177).
The playback works fine (i tried it with iTunes) but when I plug my guitar to the "instrument" input (in the side instrument input, near the "phones" out. I'm not using the breakout cable) I don't see any signal in the mixer.
I also tried to plug a microphone and there's no signal too.
(the same microphone if plugged into one of the Line IN of the breakout cable correctly works and lets me see the signal in Totalmix)

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.
Matteo

Re: Problem With Babyface

That sounds more like you forgot to switch the input 2 to INST within TotalMix.

Re: Problem With Babyface

Thanks, man!
Poor stupid me... last night I wasn't able to find where to switch it. It was, probably, time to go to bed!
Found the "inst". Switched. Perfectly working.

Thanks again.
Have a nice weekend.
