Topic: Audio glitches / DPC latencies

Hello,

I was soon facing problems with my Fireface 800. There where glitches/scratches when playing simple mp3 files in ordinary players (WMP, VLC).

My computer is a Dell laptop Latitude E6500 with XP Pro SP3.

Generously advised by RME support (Daniel Fuchs), I was told to install DPC Latency checker, which showed abnormal latencies.

Unfortunately, the advice given on the DPC Latency Checker website (deactivating peripherals through management console) didn't work. I also tried to kill processes, services, and to update drivers.

I finally found that deactivating "module bay" in the BIOS is a way to have decent latencies.... but it also deactivates the optical drive.

Finally, I reactivated the "module bay", and searched once again if I could have forgot a driver. Here it is ! Hidden in "Sata drives" section, I found an intel driver ("Rapid storage technology") which solved the problem. Here is the link if you face the same problem : ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/SATA/Intel_Rapid- … 264763.exe

Hope this helps !
Thanks again to the incredible support team !
