Topic: TotalMix crashes for 5 secs then starts again

Hi,

I have my RME Fireface 800 plugged into the rear Firewire800 port of my Mac Pro quad core via a Firewire800 cable.
Firmware 2.77
Driver 2.89
The red host light comes on for 5secs intermittently about 4 times every hour and when the red host light turns off again the Totalmix application stops for about 5 secs. Audio then starts again and the unit behaves normally but the TotalMix screen will have closed and needs to reopened.

Can anyone help please?

Please try with all other FW devices disconnected from your Mac.

Thanks very much Jeff, you solved the issue.
I had a Firewire 400 cable plugged into the rear port on the Mac Pro but I did not have the other end connected to anything.
It was this floating cable that caused the drop outs. I assume that the Mac Pro FW bus searches for FW devices and if unable to find one at the end of an "empty"cable then it causes a firewire drop out.
I now have both my FF800s connected (one with FW800 cable the other with FW400) and at this stage there are no problems.
