Topic: 2010macbook pro, fireface800 problem

Hi

i was bought a ff800 1month ago.
but since i bought ff800 was got something problems.
main symptoms was first booting ff800 after mac osx system on, i playing itunes or logic when 40~50 minutes elapsed, ff800 was getting suddenly stuttering sounds and crushed. at the same time host is red on. after few second, ff800 was became works normal.
at the logic, sometimes got "audio engine overload" displayed.
what is problem on my macbookpro and ff800?

my system information is..

2010macbookpro
osx 10.6.6
ff800 driver 2.90
ff800 firmware 2.77
firewire connection is 400 to 800 (also i changed the cable 800 to 800 was same problem)

i need to help please. and i hope resolve this problem.

Hi EnclosedC,

Please check that your sample rate setting in the FF800 settings page is set to the same sample rate as Itunes or Logic.

I tryed changing sample rate ff800 and itune, logic. but it's don't still resolve.
and I tryed chaning various sample rate, but also it getting same problem.
Is there any other way? plz...
it's always occurs same times at 40minute~50minute elapses...
Same stuttering and stop playing music, host is red on and return to normal operation after few seconds...
I would appreciate any advice to give and helps.

2010macbook pro i5
osx 10.6.6
ff800 driver 2.90
ff800 firmware 2.77
Macbookpro fw chipset Rev. 8

Both two cases played by itunes, cog, logic9

1. If I connect Fw 800 to 800 cable - 40~50 minutes lapse or sometimes 20 minutes lapse. it's occur problems that host is on and sounds is stuttering, stop and It does not return to normal. So I turned off switch. I turned on switch After few seconds. It's worked fine.

2. If I connect Fw 400 to 800 cable - 40~50 minutes lapse or sometimes 20 minutes lapse. it's occur problems that host is on and sounds is stuttering, stop and After a few seconds, It's worked fine automatically.

In both cases described above that alaways rme apps was on(Does not terminate) when it's occured symptoms. Experimental study with several cable. I don't think problem on cables.
Maybe problems on both ways is my macbook fw chipset or ff800 fw chipset.
I really do not know. Why is this new product is causing the problem.
Compatibility of the problem?

Please help RME support.
Now it's hard to find out problems.

What other FireWire devices are connected to the MacBook?

No. It's only ff800 connected.

Because you know macbookpro have a only one fw port.

Yeah but you can still daisy chain stuff off of the one single FW port (drives etc -- in fact you want a good 7200rpm external drive if you intend to record -- recording to system drive is a no-no for most any DAW)

My .02, your cable may be bad --- I had this very same issue on mine and I replaced the cable.  Hasn't returned.  If using FW800 port, go big on the cable - don't go cheap on it, well worth it for the good ends and extra shielding.  Good luck!
