Topic: Akai APC-40 + FF800

Hi to all.

I´ve just bought a Fireface 800 in Argentina. Beautiful sound.

I´m thinking to use it on a live electronic performance, with an Akai APC40, trying to avoid a mixer on stage.

How?.

Well. The idea is to have de Akai attached to a Live session on a laptop, an then from Live, via midi, to another workstation with Firewire, Samplitude, and the RME.

Maybe I could send midi from the pads on the Akai to Live, and the volume faders to Totalmix or Samplitude... (It´s possible?)

Is there a way to send midi messages from the Akai (or Live) in order to have the FF800 (Totalmix & Samplitude) working as a mixer?.

I´ve read it´s difficult to set some midi controllers to manage the FF800.

I´m wondering if I´ll need a mixer, I really want to take the chance of the FF800 working as one, as it states it´s possible on the user manual.

Thanks very much, and excuse my English.

Gino.
