Topic: wrong Samperate while saving file

Hello,

I use Babyface with the DIGICheck Tool / Global Record to record music from a DAT recorder.

The DAT recorder did record with 32k, therefore I adjusted the Fireface USB settings to SampleRate 32000, Clock Source Optical Input

When the DAT recorder finishes its play, it switches back to 48k, that leads to the situation, that DIGICheck saves a file, that
plays in Mickey Mouse.

Can I somehow write the correct information into the header of the file, that the playback is done with 32 k ?

Re: wrong Samperate while saving file

You could stop the recording before the DAT stops. And I haven't really seen a DAT that would switch from 32 to 48 when the tape stops. Maybe part of the tape is still at 48k?

Re: wrong Samperate while saving file

I do use DIGICheck Tool / Global Record, therefore no additional software.

Yes, on my old DAT Tapes (recorded with Sony DAT), the recorder switches back to 48 k at the start and sometimes on the end of the tape.

How it seems, DigiCheck uses the SampleRate, that is available on Clock source Optical in.

So most input stream comes with 32 k, but is saved as 48k

Two workarounds for me:
- stop the tape at end of record of 32 k (but tape is running 2 - 4 hours)
- change the header in the final recording from 48k to 32k, how can this be done after the save has already been done ?

Does it help to give a 32k clock from the DAT before pressing the Save button in DigiCheck ?

DC indeed determines the sample rate info that it writes into the header at the end of the recording. A hex editor can be used to change this to different values.

Re: wrong Samperate while saving file

Software may also help.  For example, Sound Forge offers the ability under "Resample" to change the sample rate (in the header) without changing the file.  Nominate the file as 32K and correct playback should ensue  (in theory!) ...
