When i have protools open is there a way i can play like a cd or audio mp3's from my desktop in quicktime or windows media player?

Right now i have to close the session and close protools and is kinda a pain in the ass.  That or i have to import the audio into my session.  I could play both protools and windows media player with my old digi002 driver.
