Topic: wdm / asio question --babyface
Hi,
This question may be addressed elsewhere, but I'm not terribly techie . . .
I've been watching with great interest the postings here and elsewhere concerning babyface, and I'm just about convinced to go into the depths of my wallet, ha.
I want to know if I'll be able to switch between reaper and windows media player easily. I would like to be able to quickly a/b reaper files with stuff from the internet and/ or files stored on my computer. With my current interface, I need to close reaper (the asio application) for the wdm player (windows media player) to work. Then conversely close the media player and again open reaper. All of which is less than optimal for quick comparisons.
With a simple set up (desktop, windows xp, babyface, one set of powered monitor speakers, headphones) will I be able to do these comparisons without all the closing and opening? If not might windows 7 be a solution? Or some kind of routing through totalmix?
It's sort of a minor thing, especially with media files on my computer that I can easily drop into reaper, but it is a consideration. thx.
thx
