Topic: ADI-2 A/D question

I have an analog source with some remaining DC at it's (balanced) outputs. Is the ADI-2's ADC AC-coupled (meaning does block DC)? Or would it influence the ADC (let alone damage it)?

(It would look up the circuit diagram if I'd found one)

Thanks,
Rüdiger

AC coupled.

Bedankt!

Re: ADI-2 A/D question

The RME Website says: "Ausgang DA: 6,3 mm Stereoklinke und XLR, servosymmetrisch, DC-gekoppelter Signalpfad". Same statement as for AD.

--> ???

"Servo balanced" means, that I should use a monoral TRS jack (or short the "-" to Gnd) when I want to feed the signal into an asymmetrical input stage?
Besides loosing 6dB when not connecting it, would I risk to increase distortion when driving into an impedance in the kOhm range (or even an attenuation at high frequencies when driving long cables)?

Thank you and Best Regards

Re: ADI-2 A/D question

As explained in this forum before the whole signal path is DC-coupled, except for an electrolytic capacitor at the very input (the XLR jack), which is for protection purposes. Same applies to the analog output circuit.

Yes.

No.

Thank you for the explanation (and sorry for not finding it in the forum).
Understood: DC Protection absolutely makes sense.
