Topic: daisy chain RME FC800 with external lacie HDD firewire800

hello

how i suppose to daisy chain a mac book pro with an external HDD (lacie) and the rme fireface800? i got two firewire800 cables.
could somebody explain ?

wich is the best way to do: mac-hdd-rme800, or mac-rme800-hdd?

thanks

It shouldn't matter, as long as both devices ARE FW800.   But don't expect miracles.  If you're recording to that drive, you could be trying to send a LOT of data through that Firewire port, in both directions at once.  The numbers say it can be done,  The numbers aren't always right!   If you get glitches, you may be better off recording to the Mac internal drive.

The only people, as far as I know, who have published anything like "standard practice" for Firewire chaining, are Avid (with their own devices). Their recommendation is to put the hard drive in the middle, so

mac - hdd - rme800

This is how I set mine up, and it works just fine.
