In most situations onboard hardware LED VU meter not need to display.
Posible to switch off LED VU meter in babyface software?

Not in TotalMix
Only by pressing the "Select" button until it's in the "On" mode.
Then press the dial until no meters display.

Wrong way!
If you press the "dial jog" out volume in line out is dimm to -20Db

Solution, for my opinion.
select "by press select button" the phones and set volume -100Db
Now LED VU meter is no active.
In the line out volume not changes.

No, not "wrong way"!

It was a method to set the Babyface to a mode that doesn't have i/o activity and therefore no LED action.

Why do you need to nix the LED's anyway?
I'm as fussy as anyone about not wanting to wear things out (see my post on using cable adapters), but the LEDs are the last of my concerns. They last forever.

Maybe I did not understand your method.
The second action of your method
( Then press the dial until no meters display )for me reduced volume of output and reduced levels of LED.
LED i/o activity is still present, but reduced for -20Db.
"Dimm" is activated.
One more press " the dial " is cancel "dimm"
