Topic: Windows Doesn't Detect 9652

Hello Folks,
I just got my brand new shiny 9652 and installed the card in my computer in one of my 2 PCI slots. Windows fails to detect the card.
I have an AMD 64x2 processor with 4 gigs of ram running WINDOWS 7 64 Bit. Originally the computer was running Windows Vista 32 bit.
I have only one PCIe slot and that is running a graphics card.
Also I currently have a Steinberg MR816 connected by firewire. I don't think this makes much difference.
I really wanted this card to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why Win7 doesn't detect the card?

I did see this post you linked me prior to my post but the problem is that there is no device with yellow warning symbol in the device manager. There was something called " High Definition Sound Device" that didn't have a yellow symbol and I tried to update that as well. Windows said that the best driver was installed already. I manually tried to point it to the RME drivers but Windows insisted that it had installed the best driver which I believe is a generic Microsoft Driver.
I will check to see if the Steinberg firewire device drivers are fighting it and re-install so I can rule that out.

That will be your onboard soundcard. Maybe it helps to disable it.

Thanks MC. I did disable it and also the Steinberg but the card doesn't show up anywhere. Could it just be a dead card? I tried everything I can think of. I even found an old PCI modem and plug it in and it was detected so I think I can safely rule out the slot being non-functional. I also did try both slots.

Sorry I haven't been able to test the card on another computer. I ended up in the hospital and as soon as I get out I will give it a test.

OK so I just got out of the hospital and the first thing I did when I got home was try the card in my wifes Windows7 computer.
As it turns out her computer also doesn't detect the card nor does it show up anywhere in the devices. So should I assume at this point the card is dead?
