Topic: FF UFX: How to use the recorded FIles in a DAW

Hello everybody,

I just recorded a live concert with the UFX and used the USB recording option for the backup. Now I need the backup multitrack files for one song because ProTools had a drop out.

I didn't find any posts in the forum, which explain how to get the single/mono tracks of the interleaved UFX files in a DAW. I have Pro Tools and Logic. If I drag and drop the UFX File in a logic session I see a waveform but can't hear anything, regardless of the track assignment (mono/stereo/surround). The region shows the 5.1 symbol...


Is there any chance to extract the tracks?

Will Logic's mixer show a playback signal level?

Logic's mixer sows no signal but I currently tried it with "Soundtrack Pro". Theres a signal level and you can hear sth (I guess all the tracks together...)

What are generally RME's ideas for the backup files? How could you work on with them?

We are working on the splitter for Win/Mac that puts the files together and then extracts/exports single channels.

Like I mentioned before, please try to make this tool compatible with TMFX workspace files. It would be convenient to have the files named automatically.

The problem is that there is no relationship between recorded file and the used channel in the hardware/TM FX. So even if we include a dialog to have a specific workspace as name reference, it would only work if you recorded all channels from 1 up without a gap. Otherwise the names get shifted to the wrong channels.

Include a new "record number" integer in the channel strip object?
I guess a single loop gathering the channel numbering shouldn't be to hard.
