Topic: Again:2 UFX (master and converter) 16 or 18 channels @ 24/192?

I have a, provisional, setup with two UFX one as a master and one as a converter only (as posted/discussed on the FireWire forum) but now used with USB, PC and ProTools.

I can "see" 16 channels (8 line and four mic from the master UFX and 4 channels of, quadded, ADAT from the UFX used as a converter) but no AES channels appear in Pro Tools. I thought I read something about no AES if SPIDiffed??  So finally, with my configuration, what must I do to get the 2 AES inputs to appear??

Also the units get become more than warm.  Is this OK for long term use or is forced air necessary/desirable?

Thank You Knut!

The AES/EBU I/O is alternatively to the 2nd optical I/O in SPDIF mode - parallel in ADAT mode. If I understand your setup correctly you are using 2 x ADAT I/O so AES/EBU is available.

I think the problem is the Pro Tools 9 I/O limit. 32 I/O channels = 16 + 16 in your case.
