hi everyone,

i hope someone can help me on here.

i just recently bought a rme fireface uc with the purpose of
using the mic preamp to record my guitar cab. well, after hooking
it up to my computer, i can definitely hear the mic sounds through
my headphones, but when i try to record the track with cubase 5
it doesn't record the sound. definitely, cubase understands that there
is a sound signal there because theres that white static image of
where the sound is, but no actual sound is heard when playing it back. is this a problem
with my vst connections?

please keep in mind i am using a;
- usb to connect this to my samson pc computer
- having a mic attached to channel 1 of the mic
- headphones from the fireface headphone 7/8 jack

those are the only cables i have running through it.
i've tried really hard to understand the manual, but in my opinion, it
is incredibly hard to understand from a newbie stand point. i know nothing,
and i am assuming this is a unit for people who already have their poop together which i do not. also, i have no idea how to use the the units front knob, and what sp, ph and all those other numbers mean.

anyways, please, if someone could help me with the situation i would really appreciate it.

p.s.~ originally i was getting youtubes sound coming from my fireface headphone jack, but now i cannot hear it. i heard that if you can hear videos or other things coming from the headphones, then its just a minor adjustment to be made with the preferences.

please help. i am just so flustered with this
