Topic: sigverif - Driver Signature Checker

When I run sigverif it states the the drivers are not digitally signed.

I checked the signatures as per forum post. http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic … 67&p=1

Do I need to perform any further steps to make them appear as signed?

Does it matter?

Re: sigverif - Driver Signature Checker

As long as Windows states that the files are digitally signed I wouldn't care about different info from whatever tool...

Re: sigverif - Driver Signature Checker

Here Windows device manager says "Nicht digital signiert". Nvidia drivers for example are signed.

Correct, but not correct ;-)

If the drivers would not be digitally signed then they could not be installed under W 7 64. And of course they can.

Re: sigverif - Driver Signature Checker

OK, here is the detailed answer: Drivers that are not needed for booting of Windows do not need to be digitally signed. PnP drivers like ours only need a signed catalog file (.cat). Then Windows will accept them, although the different driver files within the driver are not signed.

We had signed these files earlier because of all the trouble with Windows not remembering the load state (the famous UAC dance), but as it didn't change anything we stopped that signing again.
