oh I am sorry, I only read the small line but not the headlines
in the RME website UFX "freqently asked questions" corner still says

What can I do with the USB port in the front?

The USB socket in the front is intended for multi-track recording/playback directly to USB memory stick or USB hard drive. This feature will be available LATER by a firmware update (flash update).
