Topic: Digico SD9 -> which MADI solution

We have 2 Digico SD9 for our band.
We are using one for monitor mix and the other for the house.

What would be the easiest multitrack recording solution to record our gigs into Mac Book Pro running Logic 9 and OS X?
How many channels could we record?

I actually do not know how MADI works so my apologies.
I know that Digico SD9 has an optional MADI module.
So, would it work like Digico-SD9-MADI -> MadiFace -> Logic?
And how many channels could I record with this setup?

Madi will carry 64 channels each way.

Hi Yavuz,
I believe the Digico still uses the 56 channel MADI format so you will be able to get 56 channels @48k or 26 @96k.

Madiface for sure. I have a friend who is recording out of a digico through a madiface and into his macbook.

It is 56 channels at 44.1/48K.

You can also use digicheck to record all 56 channels to one interleaved file for importation later (much lower overhead on the HDD)

Hoa can I achieve this?

Global record in digicheck. (Downloadable from the RME website) It enables you to record all (or some) of your inputs into one file. So instead of writing 56 files to your HDD you are only writing one. It's kinda like a really cool version of 5.1 Dolby over spdif. Maybe others can be a bit clearer than me!

On my laptop (Thinkpad T60, 1.83 dual core 5200 RPM drive) I can record all 18 channels from my multiface using this method. My CPU and HDD usage is pretty much nothing. By Comparison in Protools 8 I can only record 4 channels before I run out of resources.

Hmmm... Veriy interesting.
I am mostly using Logic and Reason/Record.
So, if I were to use this technique to record, how could I import this file into Logic?
Or... Could I use Logic to record like this.
