Topic: Issues with my FF400 and macbook pro

hi there,

I have a FF400 since 3 years and it worked very well with my old laptops
I recently bought a second hand Macbook Pro Core 2 duo from 2008 with a FW800 port.
The problem is that my FF400 doesn't work with this laptop: the "Host LED" flashs on and out (Red).
Actually i've a second Macbook Pro from the same generation and my FF400 works really good with it.
I recently tried a FF800 on both laptops and the problem is still the same.
Overmore i tried another FW Sound Card and this one worked on both laptops.

Does someone have the same problem?
Any solution to suggest?

Re: Issues with my FF400 and macbook pro

Check the FW chipset. Apple used to switch back and forth between Texas Instrument and Agere/LSI in that period. The Agere/LSI ones need a hub/repeater in between to work with the Fireface (Lindy sells a repeater cable that works).

How can i check the kind of chipset i have?
Do you have a cable to suggest? they sell more ones...

You'd need a FW Repeater cable, I don't think there is more than one.
