Topic: UFX glitches

hi there

a first post with problems!

I've had my UFX for a couple of months now and have had repeated problems with glitches. I'm using both the latest firmware and drivers on xp service pack 3 with ableton live 8.25. i have regular big glitches in the sound while using ableton at relatively low power. I also have the strange effect of the pitch of all online media being altered upwards when I switch on my connected master keyboard by adat, it's a Kurzweil K2600. I've tried everything i can think of from hight to low sample rates to reloading the firmware and drivers but the problem persists. is it possible i have a faulty unit or am i missing something obvious with the above set-up? any help much appreciated.

Re: UFX glitches

Hello,

Regarding the glitches, please have a look here to find out if you have a problem with DPCs caused by system drivers/BIOS.

Also, please check if it makes any difference when you increase the buffer size in UFX settings. Finally, for XP you have to do the "Background services " tweak, especially if this is a single core CPU.

As for the pitch problem with the ADAT input used, the keyboard is running at 48kHz. Therefore 44.1kHz material on the PC does not play back correctly, as long as the keyboard is connected and switched on.

Re: UFX glitches

thanks for coming back to me so quickly Jeff. The DPC latency checker seems to think i should be ok, it's a core 2 duo at 2.5ghz. I've tried a few different buffer sizes and made all the tweaks Martin Walker recommends, I'd made most of them already. it does seem slightly better but i'm still getting occasional big glitches. another thing i've noticed is that the yellow midi out 1 and 2 lights are permanently on when i play live sets even if they don't have midi tracks in them, they go out when i stop play. these lights also temporarily go out at exactly the same time as the glitches. the total mix software also seems to react badly with ableton and the vst gui's i have up with the gui's disappearing and only partially showing up through the ableton front page. everything was working fine with the Lexicon audio interface i replaced and the only real change to the set-up is i'm now using the digital in and outs on a couple of my synths. are you able to suggest anything else? thanks again.

Matt

Re: UFX glitches

My suggestion would be to try it on another computer. Don't waste one of Live's activations, just download the trial. If it works pretty well then you know it's a problem with the PC you are trying to use.

Re: UFX glitches

Try setting Live's CPU priority to "Realtime" via Task-Manager and report back. wink

Regarding the Midi LED thing, make sure to disable *all* Midi in Live's Preferences (including Control surfaces) and see if that turns off the LEDs.
