Topic: Trackcount Protools 9 native and RME HSDPe Madi Card PCIe

Hello,

I've been successfully using the RME HSDPe Madi hooked up to a Sony DMX R-100.
48 Channels show up in the Console which is the Sony's limitation. So that is good.
What intrigues me is the fact that somehow the maximum simultaneous playback track count with PT9 native is 32 and not 48.
At least I can not output anything beyond output 32...
Now within Protools all outputs are shown and not grayed out.
Really puzzled.... I was really hoping to have 48 tracks output since I love the fact that I have 48 faders and automation and all.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks

Georges

PT 9 is limited to 32 channels with non-Avid hardware.

Ah ok!

Well Avid should say so more openly on their website......

I still like my setup. And maybe someday someone will hack into the Protools software to get rid of that limitation.
That is so not 2011. wink

Thanks for the clarification

Georges

Hi Frank,
Is this Pro Tools 9 HD or the normal. HD might be able to do more. I don't have a MADI card here atm to confirm this.
But pretty sure non HD is 32 I/O only.

Thanks Chris

Native is limited to 32 channel simultaneous record. Not sure about HD. I think Native has playback of 48 channels now.

If you have the production tool kit upgrade you can do more I believe. You get more tracks of playback anyway.

its a little bit more tricky.

this screenshot ist protools native.

it shows 64 Channels on I/O and records 64 channels. I'm not shire if there is signal on input channel 33-64. but on the playback side there are 64 channels but signal output is only on channel 1-32.

typical complicated for avid.

Re: Trackcount Protools 9 native and RME HSDPe Madi Card PCIe

Isaac,

you believe a lot of things smile

Does anyone know for sure? I don't want to throw any more dimes into Avid's throat if I cannot get what I am looking for.

I need 48 Tracks simultaneous output. Whether I use the Complete Production kit or not ...

I would eventually go for HDX but only if I can use the HSDPe Madi in parallel. I s that an option? I guess not ...

Thanks for your insight

Georges

The link in the post above you has the answer. Only 32 in / 32 out is possible without HD and Avid hardware.
