Topic: Problem with new computer and Multiface II

Hello, I have recently purchased a Lenovo X220 tablet with intel i5 and Windows 7 pro and I am having some issues with my Mutiface II / Expresscard, which is loaded with the most current driver and firmware.

The problem is that quite often my cursor will begin skipping on screen when I try to move the mouse and the Hammerfall DSP panel shows an error state until I unplug and replug the expresscard. So far this has for the most part only happened when the computer is sitting idle or I am just streaming audio from the Multiface inputs to Ableton Live and back out again, and one time when I had inserted the card while the computer was asleep and then opened Ableton Live (on stage getting ready to play of course!) I would suspect something to do with power saving but as far as I know I have everything set to maximum performance, including PCI Express Link State Power Management set to OFF.

Any ideas?

Re: Problem with new computer and Multiface II

Hi Nico,
Does this model have a any power management software running on the task bar or is it just using the built in Windows one?
What brand are the wireless and wired LAN ports?
I would update your Intel Graphics driver to the latest one from Intel's web site.
There are versions of the driver that causes issues with audio performance.

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7 64

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7 32bit

Re: Problem with new computer and Multiface II

Hi Chris, I have just noticed that there is both the built in power management control panel and the Lenovo power control app. Also I see that the Lenovo app has a global PCI bus power management setting that is set as automatic. I will try setting this to disabled and see if the problem occurs again.

Otherwise the wireless is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205, and the LAN is Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection.
Also I will make sure that I am updated to the latest graphics driver as recommended.

If none if this helps, perhaps a barebones Windows installation without all the Lenovo apps would be a good idea?

Thanks!

Hi Nico,
I would also update those network controllers from Intel's website also.
You should also check for DPC spikes causing these issues.

A fresh Windows Install might be the way to go to improve this but make sure you have all the drivers downloaded before you start.
Here is the best Windows 7 install and tweak guides in case you need them.
