Topic: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

I recently bought hdsp 9652 , instead of digi 9652 that I happily used for several years . I had to change it because of drivers not working with win 7 .

I installed new drivers and noticed that they have canceled " auto sync" option in DSP settings

I am using external clock via spdif , and want to slave hdsp .

I put clock source SPDIF in , and everything works fine ... but ....

... when I want in cubase ( project is in 48 khz and master clock too ) to change F4 inputs or something like that , hdsp changes to 44 Khz and then goes back to 48 Khz .... also when I listen something in you tube ( no cubase turned on ) even if I am in 48 Khz ... it plays in 44 ( not speeding )

... how do I stop hdsp deciding for itself , and force it to no matter what sticks to external clock ???

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

That cubase issue is a cubase bug AFAIK. Cubase always reverts to 44k in it's startup phase and only switches to 48k when the project or template is loaded. Apparently also when changes inputs etc. The youtube thing is problably the same. I'm not on Win7 here, but I remember seeing a sample rate lock somewhere in the audio setup. that might help for the youtube problem.

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

Thank You for quick answer ...

I have resolved a thing with You tube , because my friend explained to me that no matter what sample rate you play , it will play normally because rme resamples that in real time ....

But the cubase thing still remains .....

When I had DIGI 9652 with sync option in dsp settings ... everything was rock solid ... with same system i have now .... I just replaced digi 9652 with hdsp 9652 ....

Somebody gave me an advice me to go back to older driver so i get the old setings .... what do you think about that ???

Cheers

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

It's easy to try that, but I never used a pre 3.x driver (If that is what you mean) and never use anything but 44k so I have no idea if it will help. Although 3.085 had the auto sync option and that was a very good driver for me, so maybe try that first https://archiv.rme-audio.de/download//o … m_3085.zip

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

AutoSync is unchanged. If SPDIF In is used as clock source then that will be used. If Cubase intializes the card for 44 sf for a short time then it changes clock to internal, but later back to SPDIF. If ASIO is running you can change the external SPDIF sample rate and the card/Cubase will follow.

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

I understand what You are saying and appreciate the help , but I don't understand why it didn't happen with digi 9652 ?
Digi was working rock solid ! I am doing a lot of audio for video , and also it behaves similar when I do scrub on video screen inside cubase . It is very annoying sad

Can I do something about that ? I don't want anything to change my clock .... as it used to be with old dsp settings on digi 9652

Your clock doesn't change anymore as soon as everything is set up correctly. No need to worry.

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

I am not sure if I made myself understandable because english is not my native language but ...

It is EXACTLY my question .... What do I have to do to set it up properly ???

If DIGI 9652 worked ... why HDSP doesn't ????

( i just replaced digi with hdsp ... same system same everything )

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

I'm assuming (and now asking too) that you also went from xp to win7 and probably 64 bit (the digi drivers work on win7 32 bit AFAIK). A OS update is hardly called the same system (but it is the same hardware).
I know not helpful, but maybe can help us narrow it down.

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

I have dual boot ..... win xp and win 7 64 on separate hd drive ....

When i say same system , I mean win xp32 , because digi 9652 can not work on 64 bit system

So ... Win xp .... everything as it is , just plugged out digi 9652 deinstalled old drivers .... put hdsp 9652 , installed newest driver from this site , everything went very smooth .... apart from this very annoying problem

Hope this helped .... and thank you for effort to help smile

THANK YOU !!!!

I rolled back to this driver and everything works as it is supposed to be !!!!!

So it is not Cubase or anything ... the problem is that with a new driver you can not lock sample rate to be solid .....

I hope that they will look into this issue in future settings

You are not right  .... look at previous post ... 3.08 driver works like magic !!!

For now i am set with the old driver , but I hope that You will look into this problem in next revisions of the driver

Thanks for a great support !!!

Re: HDSP 9652 is changing sample rate

Glad it helped!
At this point the only thing you are missing with this older driver is multi client (more applications sharing one output), which can be useful on a device with fewer outputs, but is not really missed on a 9652.

Good luck
